What is Respite or STA?Short-term accommodation (STA) or respite is a type of short-term housing support for individuals with disabilities. It is intended to provide a stepping stone for those who are in the process of transitioning to independent living or to provide support for those who wish to continue living in their own homes.
Choice Support Tasmania offers STA and respite support for participants who have funding for such services in their NDIS plans. This service includes provision for food, accommodation, power, and internet during the period of support.
What is the difference between SIL and STA?Supported independent living (SIL) is a form of housing for individuals with disabilities that goes beyond providing a roof over their heads. It also includes support with daily living tasks such as cooking and cleaning.
The main difference between SIL and STA is that SIL is intended to be a long-term housing solution while STA is typically temporary. However, the level of support provided can be customised to meet the specific needs and goals of the individual.
